Rattling noise during acceleration
I've got a 94 GS300 with 215K. I know there is a similar post for the ES 1st gen but I'm not sure if ES is a rear wheel drive like the GS.
I've noticed a rattling noise whenever I accelerate. This noise is not present when I take my feet off the gas pedal or when I'm stationary. Driving in 100 degrees in Phoenix does not help the problem at all. It seems that the rattling noise gets louder when the weather gets hotter.
I'm not sure if I should take it to the dealer. The service advisors here are not too friendly to 1st gen car owners and they aren't honest with you. I took my car in for a coolant change and the guy came back to tell me my radiator is cracked at the seams and needs to be changed ASAP. I asked him to show me where is the crack, he said ok. He opened the hood, said its too dark to find the crack and had to go get a flash light. He came back without a flash light but with a different story. This time he said the crack is at the bottom of the radiator and I would need to craw underneath the car to identify a crack with reddish coolant residue. My car had green coolant all the while... so if there is any so called residue, it should be green, not red.

No, this noise has been around for a long time, and somehow gotten worse when I moved from MN to AZ. I know it sounds crazy but I don't turn on the A/C at all in this 100 degrees heat. So it can't be the A/C malfunctioning.

Just got back from Lexus. They told me the rattling noise is due to my faulty TRAC computer which controls all the pumps and valves. The diagnosis does not make sense to me.. rattling noise only comes on when I accelerate. What has it got to do with TRAC? anyway, they told me its going to cost $1600 to fix the TRAC computer. Sorry guys, but I am not Wells Fargo.

Hey dxb625, I think i know what your talking about. I have the same problem with my 94 GS300 which has about 163,XXX miles on it. When i accelerate i hear the rattling, but at higher rpms i dont hear it. I, as well as other body shops, couldn't really find the problem.
