Default coolant loss 93 gs300

Hi

I'm losing coolant from my 93 gs 300; it loses about a quart every 5 months. I can't see fluid on the ground. The fluid in the radiator looks a murky. I'm guess head gasket or water pump. Anyone have any other suggestions.

When was the last time you had the radiator flushed?

How do the hoses look that connect to the heater valve? Any evidence of leaks there?

You may have a point. It could also be the heater. Thanks

I went out and took a look and I think you nailed it. Those are the two hoses up behind the engine? One goes into the firewall and I'm not sure about the other. There evidence of dried fluid on the end of each hose. Could be it thanks again

Yeah baby thanks. The hose from the valve is leaking where it enters the engine at the back. It was difficult to see the leak because it was behind the engine and then everyone had a different opinion head gasket etc. Finally after a few wasted dollars and discussion with many mechanics and many trips to forums, the service manager at the lexus dealership here and I with the car running got a mirror and contorted our necks so we finally could see the coolant dripping out of that connection down behind the engine. I learned a valuable lesson. Make sure one knows the problem before going to the mechanic. One could end up paying a lot for work that's not needed. Thanks again

I don't think your heater hoses are the only coolant hoses exterior to the engine.

I know of those that would only replace one. Two months later, another hose leak, and wasted coolant.

Coolant hoses go bad from the inside out, meaning the inside lining hose cracks and fails first. The hoses were all installed at the same time .....
