Starter Trouble...or so I thought
Went to start the wife's '93 GS the other day and was greeted by nothing but a click. Tried to jump start, still nothing but a click. Had the battery tested, it was fine. Check the relay just to be sure, continuity is good. Must be the starter. Called the local Toyota mechanic shop...told me it's probably the contacts. Car has 170K so I figure I'll just replaced the starter, only $125 at AutoZone. What a PITA! That top bolt took me 2 days to finally get loose. A 14mm 3/8ths elbow socket from sears on the end of several extensions finally did the trick. After that everything went smoothly...until I tried to start the car. Click. WTF! Positive battery cable looked a little corroded...not much. I've seen worse. So I got a booster cable and connected it from the positive battery terminal to the new starter. Car starts Dammit! New battery terminal at Wal-mart, $1.50. I don't have the humility to take the new starter out and return it...cars got 170K miles on it, I'm sure it was going to go out soon anyway.

yea I remember when I changed my starter. I had like a 2 foot extension. Though it took me 2 hours instead of 2 days. I kept burning myself on the exhaust (should have done it after the car sat for awhile) Thats what I get for telling my lexus mechanic I could do it on my own. He sat and laughed the whole time and wouldn't do it for me.
