Default change head gasket 93 gs300

can anyone give me info on how to change the head gasket on my 93 gs300 225 000 km? Can't be that difficult or is it? Maybe having a mechanic do it is prudent? What do you all think? Love the input.

It's a big job. The book quotes close to ten hours labor, and that for an experienced lexus tech. I wouldn't attempt unless you've got quite a bit of mechanical experience.

If you have to ask about it, I recomend you have it done. Without the right tools it could take you a full weekend or longer.

thanks for the feedback

Do you know if any of the additives for filling the cracked gasket work?

You should always replace the gasket anytime you remove the head. If you have scratches in the block or head they need to be decked flat.
Does that help ?

Thanks but on closer inspection the coolant leak is at the back of the engine but not a gasket it is simply where the heater hose goes from the water valve back into the engine. Much cheaper fix.
