'93 GS300 with 177k - What's this worth?
Hello All,
I've posted previously in the SC forum, but now realize I want a sedan with more room. This has led me to consider the GS and ES models. I'm considering a gold '93 with pretty high miles (177) from a private owner, loaded with Nak sound, 12-CD changer, heated seats, trac control, one-owner, garaged, and very well-maintained. Asking price is: $5,700. I'll be giving it a test drive tonight. Other than having it checked for the timing belt/water pump and ball joints, is there anything else I should look for? I'm comparing this to a '97 ES300 with 149k with a lesser know history, as it's from a broker. Any suggestions/ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Kaiser,
Thanks for your reply. The issues you mentioned, are those related to the GS or ES? And I forgot to mention that the GS owner is asking $5,700.
Thanks again.

You should take the vin # to the local lexus dealer and u can see what maintenance has been performed at the dealership. Also, I'd talk the guy down in price from $5700. From edmunds, I priced a similar GS at $3,572
you can't go wrong between an ES vs GS but the thing with the ES is that they're everywhere - it's more exclusive having a 1st gen GS

Carfax it.
My car was a company car for the first 30000 miles of its life. I knew this from the start but ignored it because i was so high on the lexus name and needed a car really bad. Well, now i'm paying for it! Great car tho, don't' get me wrong!

everyone talks about carfax, and while that is fine, I would also check out autocheck.com as well.
kbb has an opinion of value, as does truevalue... I always try them both
