The OE TT Tranny even built ones will break with this kind of hp's. I'm using the SP400 which is a built GM 3 sp auto manual with a reverse pattern. This tranny is good for 1200-1500 hp. this is what many built supra's and many drag racing cars because it can take anything you throw at it. there are many write up's about the TH400. The trans tunnel for the JZS147 is narrow therefore must be hammered to fit the valve body section of the tranny. there's two ways you can do this, good ole hammer or using a pneumatic hammer. Another options is to simply cut the section out and weld a new sections of the floor pan. We used the pneumatic hammer and the trans tunnel looks like it was factory. I have pics of the before and after, I'll post it as soon as I can locate it.
If your going for big power and thinking about a built tranny, save a bit more and go for the TH400. One thing you should know is it is streetable but it can be a bit to work with and also can eat lots of fuel but this depends on your setup. I have a high stall 4500rpm to get the turbo to spool up and the car to go on a quater mile pass. If your going big turbo, I really recommend working with someone who will give you the correct recommendation for your engine build, turbo, cams, fuel etc... This way you do it right the first time.
otherwise, if you decide to experiment, your only throwing money away.
Again, as you already know, there's been many differnt 2jzgte builds and setup combo's. its all about preference and what you will sacrifice. (i.e.. mine, no cruise control, no abs, no trac, no overdrive, no emissions, using only C16 fuel - no pumped gas 93 etc....)
