Default Purchasing an Aristo.... General questions...

Hey guys,

I'm a long time member of the supraforums, and a moderator there... Anyways, I'm about to sell my S70 Volvo and pick up a 91 aristo as a DD. (I'm in canada) anyways, I'm wondering if there is anything I should be on the look out for or is there anything I should know about these cars before I purchase one?

I know about the speed limiter, and I know all the engine stuff since I have a swapped 2jz aristo engine in my mk3 supra.

What I don't know is the little oddities to look out for (powersteering line probably garbage on this car too like all toyotas) anything else?

I plan to BPU the car and leave it at about 15-16 PSI due to the cermaic turbos.

Thanks....

Welcome! There has been quite a few new aristo owners here recently.

We get a thread like this about 2 3 times a month. Check back in the last months post, someone was looking at a GS. Try searching as well

But heres some of the things, check the window trim, press down on it, if there is movement, thats a spendy repair. Unless salvageble.
Check the suspention carefully, control arms tend to go out on these cars.
P/S pump too, mine went out.

Good luck

Max

welcome to Aristo ownership. i had to make my own. I talked to you on SF before about your SaRD kit..

like Xeeem said, the window trim is a biggie. the ball joints and LCS bushings in the front are also frequently overlooked items. Both arent the end of the world, but can cost a bit to do it right. Other than that.. pretty good. Oh yes, the P/S pump is always a joy. You can use a MK4 one if necessary though. Same with the water pump if you want to dump the Aristo hydraulic fan and pump.

Lucky Canucks with your now legal Aristos (in October anyway)

Aristos were sold in Japan in 1991. I think October was actually the first month.
I was looking at a site up there in Canada, an importer, and they specifically made note of the fact that the Aristo would soon be available to you guys.
