Im doing some research now on the swap, im planning on getting a complete clip after tax time, i have some questions to those that already have the swap.

first, i have a 93, which is better a 92-95 OBD1 or a 96-97 OBD2 clip if i plan to modify later??

Also ive been told i can put in just the motor with the stock tranny i already have, is this true? if not whats the difference in the GTE tranny from the GE, and is the GTE tranny the same as in automatic supras??

Will i need to change the fuel pump or will the GE pump handle a stock GTE swap for a while?

What kind of RWHP can be made reliably with stock twins(with bolt on's such as exhaust,MBC,etc...), how hard is it to convert JDM to USDM (turbo's/injectors,etc..)and is there much of a power gain??

Where are you guys putting your gauges/SAFC etc... Is there a pillar pod for our cars or will one for another car fit? pics????

How many have stock rear end and how many have LSD?? Those with LSD where did you get it and how much was it??

Sorry for all the questions but i thought others might want the answers to these questions also.

OBD I

You could use the stock trans but the GTE ECU won't control it properly. It also doesn't hold as much power. Get the GTE

I got 300 wheels out of my GE pump. Not sure how much further it would have gone but I switched to a Walbro. It gave no indication that I was running out of fuel pressure, I just has a walbro lying around.

350 wheels is the magic number I hear. You can squeeze almost another 100 or so out of the US twins if you max them out. I suggest going single.

I mounted the AFC in the ashtray.

Stock rear end, 4.08 final drive is standard. LSD is 3.76

hear to let you guys know that gte swap is great but everyone runs it single anyway. There are plenty of guys in the clubna-t forum that are getting massive amounts of horsepower with out doing a expensive 3500 dollar swap just for the motor. The standard xs kit is 1299 bolt on 300 rwhp easy at 8 psi of boost with a afc of some sort and rx7 550cc drop in injectors. Thats almost a 3rd of the price. And the output shaft on the sc300 and supra is totally different than the gs300 set up. The transmission are the same except for the torque converter and the trans ecu. Dave-h also puts out a kit that is for sc300 that directly connects to gs300 all you need is innercooler piping done and down pipe fabricated. 97 and up aristo and supra mkiv gte motor rods are weeker and don't hold the power of the 92-96 (non-vvti motors) can whole. So in order to keep a good gte motor after 97 is to change internals. Thats why all the is300 guys go with the 1st gen gte motors 92-96. There no need to waste funds just trying to help out. We can share enough info where every one can be force inducted.......

Thanks Kaiser!!

Also you say 350hp is the max out of the jdm setup, do you know what is involved in doing a jdm/usdm swap?? i had heard something about changing the resistors on the injectors?? anything different with the ECU??? reason is that i know a bunch of people around where i live with modded supras and im sure i can get a set of used US turbo's pretty cheap and i really would like it to be a reliable daily driver for a while before i start going crazy with big singles etc...

Just change the turbos, the fuel injectors should make it to the high 400's. Several Supra owners had them flowed and they came out to more like 480cc than 440's. That's equivilant to close to a 50# injector. The conversion is 10.4 IIRC. The US turbos will bolt up but you will need the whole assembly. The exhaust flanges coming out of the turbo are different. You can do a set of US turbos and an ebay downpipe reasonably.

Hey Johnny,

Just curious... is the car white? Does it have an HKS Camp, wood trim around a monitor, Volks GT-C's?

If so, I miss that car!

Hey man..naw the car is a dark Green 93 GS300 with Aristo badging on it, some kind of body kit, tein suspension, hardpipes, FMIC, RSR dual exhaust, 3" piping turbo-back.

u got any pics of that car you were mentioning.

also guys..im pulling a transmission code 42 and 87..i know 42 is the #1 speed sensor. (the spedometer and odometer dont work now)...however, i dont know what 87 is...any ideas?
