I think it was used for the old school phones. Theres a phone plug on the left of the front passanger's leg and a speaker right above the driver's head.
How did you guys take the antenna off?? Does it leave a hole?

The outside half was removed, but the inside half is still there. The problem is that it is on top of tinting and I hesitate to remove it for fear that the tint will peel off. Any thoughts?

I pried the outer antenna from mine off with my bare hands, and removed the sticky stuff with a razor blade. The interior one was a little more difficult, so I used a plastic spatula to remove it, so I wouldn't damage the rear defroster elements. There's a plug that screws off one end of the connecting cord once it's removed, and I just tucked the cord back into the headliner. There's no visible trace of the antenna, nor the old phone.
However, my car still emits a long beep when I start the ignition. Of course, the car-phone remote buttons are still located to the left of the steering wheel, so there's four buttons for me to play with. This is how I know it's my car; I don't feel like paying someone to remove the rest, since everything's so well preserved already with the car, I don't want to ruin it.
