If you sprayed down the engine there is probably standing water in the spark plug holes. If you have an air compressor you can probably blow them out. Either that or there is moisture in the distrubtor or the plug wires are bad. What is the date on the plug wires?

I have also experienced this after spraying my engine with water and Simple Green. Just leave the hood open in direct sunlight for 2 or 3 hours and it should dry up enough. If you have an air compressor to blow out the crevices, that will help also.

Well in my defense I did not Spray water directly at the engin or the distributor, however I did somthing wrong right? Either way after I washed the "engine Bay" I took aprt the air intake, and the distributor, wiped everything down. I left it alone for a couple of hours and I turned the car later on that night. It still runs rough and I can hear water swish around when i press down on the throttle. But tom I am going to pop open the hood and le the sun get at it for a couple of hours.

Thanks for the help.

Just give it a few days to dry up and it should be fine. If not, check your distributor cap and rotor area, and I don't think the water will get to the spark plugs if you sprayed it properly.

Washing engine is normal to at my work place; I usually see people send cars to state licensed service center to pressure-wash engine bay for further fluid&leak inspection.

All parts under the hood should be waterproof if repair and maintenance done properly.

Believe it or not.

Good luck with the out come

I've done it, and didn't have time to wait. Paid close to $500 for new plugs/wires/cap/rotor to have it done the next day

Sticky needs to read somthing like this. "DO NOT WASH THE ENGINE BAY" or " Caution, IF YOU HOSE DOWN THE ENGINE THESE WILL BE THE RESULTS"
A buddy of mine suggested that a vehicle older than 5 years should not be sprayed. anyway, that's what i found to be true, in 2003 i owned a '02 3series bemer and i washed the bay with no issue.

I wash my engine bays all the time whether it be the gs300, supra or my camry, you guys are just doing something wrong. Cover the intake distributor and alternator and don't spray water down the center of the engine and you will be fine, use cloths to clean the rest.

Hey hey,

My car was running rough for a while so I took it into the dealer and SOME HOW water got into where the spark plugs were. They were covered with plastic and everything but they said when I washed the engine it got water in there some how. They just dried them and it ran perfectly again.

yo! check it out man! youll should have no probs with washing the engin with water. i detail cars for like ten years allways wash the bay, just blow it off with compress air or let air dry in the sun. it will be fine, i detail my gs3 1 time a month with the works i never have any trouble.
