did a search and I wanted to bring this topic to life again.
I just purchased Stance coilovers (front 2nd Gen, rears MKIV) and I noticed that someone on here said they needed to modifiy the lower mount to compensate for up travel.
I guess i'm just having a hard time visualizing what he's talking about. If the shock body was too close to the wheel, wouldn't a wheel spacer be more "easier" to do? And also, the recoil on aftermarket coilovers are not the same as stock so I wouldn't think the the distance of up travel would need to measured the same as stock.
Anyway, i'm not too concerned about this since the entire body of the shock is threaded and I have wheel spacers. I was just trying to figure out the logic.

I was always under the impression that the fronts fit, but the rears were too short. There wouldn't be any problem with fitment other than just too short.
Anyway, this is what "I" found out.
Yes, the fronts fit just fine.
The rears work with no modification as long as you want to run no larger than stock tires, and don't go over a single bump. There is absolutly NO up travel. They would make a lot of noise and could possibly do some damage if you drove on a bumpy road for too long.
So here is what I did:
I cut the lower mounts off the old factory struts, and welded them onto the lower bracket of the coilovers. This made fit PERFECT since it added about 2 inches to the lenght of the coilover and that is about how short they are.

What exactly constitutes as being really low in the back? Can somebody please just post some pics of the highest MK4 coilovers will make the rear safely?!
I'm thinking about getting some PBM coilovers but want some pictures first, I want to be close to tucking rim with 18's so I doubt the lack of upward adjust ability will be a huge issue for me.
