How many miles do you have on your 1st Gen GS?
I've seen the milage topic in the 2nd generation forum but since that generation is still fairly new everyone is posting up 30k, 50k, 60k, etc. I want to start hearing people with 150k, 160k, 190k, etc.
I am a newbie to Lexus but not a newbie to the Toyota family. I've owned Toyotas up until now. I've had an 88 Camry, 93 Corolla, 94 Camry, and I just bought an 03 GS 430 last week.
So help me out guys, what are your stories on your high milage cars? What major problems have you encountered?

Cuerrently I have 227 K+ on my 93 GS. Haven't really encountered any major issues, other than the tensioner pulley going out. Other than that, not much, she's still running strong

The more stories I hear the higher my confidence level goes up in my choice. And to think I almost bought a Caddy STS instead

Welcome. I'm relatively new to CL as well, but I've owned my '96 GS300 for a couple of years now. I guess I'm still "low mileage" at 148K, but I haven't had any mechanical or electrical issues to date. I won't hesitate to sink several thousand into it as time goes on to keep it a solid daily-driver, and even mod it up a bit.

IMO Electrical problems are the worst so I'm glad to see someone with a GS that has been fine for having that many miles.

I guess I should have mentioned that while I've only owned the car for a couple of years, it's been in our family since '98. It's been a pleasure to own.
Glad to hear about the electrical system running fine. I have a 99 Escalade and I've had nothing but problems with a short I can never find. I've taken it to electrical shops, GM dealership, etc for the full 5 years I've owned it and still can't find the electrical short

I just bought my '93 a month ago with 97k miles on it. The previous owner gave me all the service records since brand new. No problems except regular maintenance. They did replace the interior sunroof slide cover because it got stuck under warranty and now my trunk shocks are going out.

I like the 1st generation body style, it still looks like a kick a** car I dont think the GS will ever go out of style no matter what generation.

I bought my '94 GS300 in 2002 with 59K miles on it. It now has 148K. I have done routine maintenance for the most part. The only things it needed aside from that were the rear main seal and replacement of the lower control arms due to wear on the bushings.

Well, for what it's worth I've had the car for about seven years now with no mechanical issues. The car has pretty low miles at 115K still drives great.
Big thumbs up for Toyota
The previous owner took very good care of it (records and all) and also kept it garaged.
