I will be getting rims pretty soon and I did now know how good/bad/tacky it would look to get 22's on my Gs. I am the first one to save a buck or two so 20's fit my budget really well, however I see most if not all of you guys have nothing bigger than a 20.
How diffrent is the ride with 20's?
How bout a drop? what is a good recommended drop, 1, 1.5 inch?

Let me be the first to say that if you use your "search" tool on this forum you will be blessed with many answers to questions you havent even thought of. Youre going to read that they are "hood", "ghetto" but most importantly "impratical". Now they sure look nice when theyre sittin there with all 22" BUT we all know that the ride surly must suck, problems with turning unless you jack the car up and then it'll look like a x-over vehicle. I say dont do it if you want my 2 cents. Stick with 20"s. I have 20's and going down to 19's when I drop my ride. And btw its not too bad with 20's, mine are just too darn heavy!!!

The ride on 20"s isn't bad. Of course it isn't stock, but it really isn't jarring at all. IMO, largest I would go on a first gen is 20"s. Anything larger tends to take the focus away from the car and shift it to the wheels. Which is IMO, is not something I'd like to see. I believe wheels should accent/enhance the look of the car and not be the main highlight.... Just my 2cents

I like the look of the 22's. Like I tell my wife when she is shopping for a dress, "You make the dress look good, not the other way around." My car will make the rim's look good, I just like the look of 22's. Maybe a airbag suspension.

Personally I wouldn't do it. Not only do I think it doesn't look good, but think about the other problems. Stopping, good luck with that. Turning, unless they are really narrow and narrow 22's...? I dunno. Plus how are you going to get them in there? You have to settle either for tires that resemble rubber bands, or camber the hell out of them... or lift it >_< If you have 22's on a car then you can forget about driving fast imo. They are seriously only for "2 miles an hour so everybody sees you"

That's what was said about 20's a few years ago and 18's back in the 90's. The only advantage I see to 22's is the car wouldn't have to be lowered as much to eliminate wheel gap. Don't expect to go overboard with a staggered 22 with a massive lip. Maybe that's why they look silly. The right setup may work, I'm willing to try
