Default Manual conversion in LHD GS300

I know this has been discussed before, and it has been done....but all I have seen is dbAristo with a RHD car.

Well, what about a LHD. Has anybody done this. I believe I will be going manual, and the only hold up that I see is that the area where the master would be sits at an angle. This will be very difficult to get something mounted there.

Yeah that's the hard part from what I remember reading. Rob, why go through all of this and then sell it? Buy a BL trans, get it up to 550hp and sell it. A daily driver is never going to see 800 rwhp anyway. It's going to be a challange keeping 550 on the road with the proper stall. You won't see enough return on your investment IMO to make the transistion worth while.

too late, I already have the supporting mods for 800+rwhp, now I just need the tranny.

After some more thought, I already know how I am going to the swap, and it shouldn't be too difficult. We will see how well it holds.

no, going R154 5 speed. I won't have to change out the rear end if I stick with the 5 speed.

I will also get my rear gears cyro'ed so they will be much stronger

I've heard of R154's breaking at 500. You think 800 hp is a obtainable? Not trying to pee in your cornflakes.

Yes, but there are a few things I am going to do to the R154 to make it stronger. It has been known to handle over 800hp.

Pretty much the weak link is the main thrust washer(I have broken one myself). There is way to make it a little stronger.

You know more than I do. I've dreamt of doing the same swap but getting the wifes approval on a project like that is a little more difficult. My end goal would only be 500ish which a BL trans and a good stall should handle fine and be less work, probably same amount of cash. I think I can sell that.

with the BL tranny does it have 4 gears or only 3? If only 3 gears how does that effect gas mileage? Just asking for future reference. I wanna drop a 1j if i ever pick up a 1st gen gs, but dont wanna put any money into a built auto tranny verse getting a 5 speed.

My ideal hp range would be 450hp to 550hp. again this is if i ever pick one up.

The BL trans is just an upgraded version of the Supra A340E. I 'believe' it uses Raybestos blue clutches, upgrades the valve body and beefs up a few other components. Still 4 gears but will hold more with the stock ECU. If you change out to an AEM the trans is a time bomb. Not many have been able to reproduce a shift schedule successful that resulted in a long life.
