You can or can't get the gear selector out of PARK? And I believe that the emergency release just allows the selector to be shifted from the PARK position.

OK, so once you do get it out of PARK and into gear, does it drive normally? If it does, then I would guess the problem lies with the gear shift selector.

Sounds like the shift interlock; either the mechanism or the "interlock computer".

OK, try this: start the car, wait for any bells or chimes to stop, and turn off your radio. You want it as quiet as possible. With your hand on the gear selector, depress the brake pedal and release. Do you hear and/or feel a click coming from underneath the center console by the shift lever? You should; that sound/click is the shift interlock releasing the gear selector. It will unlock when you hit the brake pedal, and lock when you release the brake.

OK, that sounds like a fuse problem, so check your fuse boxes.
