Increasing MPG
Are there any proven ways to increase a gs300's MPG?
I drove from Orange county to San Diego, which is about 103 miles, and it took me from the half way mark down to the quarter tank mark (im guessing its a little more than 1/4 tank). But from what i've been searching everyones gas milage seems to vary.
Im just purchased a civic intake pipe to get rid of the stock intake piping and that big plastic box resonator thing on it. From what i've read on here that plastic box resonator ruins air flow thus ruins gas mileage?

If your gauge is the same as mine, you have 5 gallons left out of 21 when the light comes on. That means 17/4 quarters = 4.25 gallons per quarter tank. So if you went 103 miles on 4.25 gallons you averaged over 24 mpg. That is what you should get for all highway driving. The intake pipe will not benefit you. In fact, the smaller filter on the civic intake pipe may HURT your gas mileage due to a restriction.
That little box on the intake pipe is there to reduce noise, not interfere with air flow. I've tested a few other cars on the dyno going from the stock pipe to after market and the gains were like 1 to 3 hp. It's the filter that matters. I've seen 15 hp gains for the right filter. Cut a hole in the front of the stock air box if you fear the air is being restricted. It's a common mod and should be more than enough air for a N/A GE.

i guess 24mpg is pretty good. this is from driving those 103 miles with the top of the airbox open with a OEM filter, it just snugs itself in there and doesnt move. for the civic pipe; i read on here that a 92-95 intake pipe has the same bends, i plan on just cutting the tube to the right size up to the AFM then using a K&n drop in. since gas is up to 3.35+ for 91, im trying increase MPG in any way possible.
