Yeh with school and work I don't have that much free time either. But I may have a little time this weekend to take a look at it. I'll take some pics if I get around to it.

vipguy, when you did the climate control, did you change the green indicator light above each button to white too? or are those still green?

search "needles". There was just recently a very informative thread titled "needles" concerning the flickering and death of needles in the SCs and the GSs

I only wanna take the cluster out once, so i wanna make sure i get everything right the first time
Don't know if any of you guys changed the lights by the shifter, but it takes 2 74 bulbs. Also, if you want it to look better, take off the green filter thats in between the white bulb housing and the piece that has the P,R,N,D,2,1. The letters will come out white instead of having that nasty green color.

I finally took apart my climate control unit and decided to take some pics.

Here is the front of the unit showing the bulbs

The back of the unit

Comparing the small light to a 74 T5 light bulb

Just wondering for the people that have done this swap, how do you change the lights to white? Do you replace the whole silver socket and bulb? Cause I learned the hard way that the bulbs don't come out, they break pretty easily.

pwidow, do you think there's a way to replace the green sleeve over the bulb?

I'm planning on doing mine blue, which would be easier i think than the white if only a new sleeve is required...

what kind of light is that little thing?

So how did you get the bulbs out? I read somewhere before that they are soldered into the socket...

Yeh I forgot you posted exactly how to do it earlier in this thread. I was just being dumb. Did you just get new 74 socket plugs from Lexus?

for the dash and they diffused the light a lot better.
as for the "superwhite" ones out there which is a regular bulb
with a blue coating, they dont shine as bright and the color looks
cheesy.

all these bulbs are be bought from http://www.ledlight.com
the prices are good, and color on them is good too.

the only thing i had to do was, on the climate control, i had to use
some bulb plugs from the 74 fitment, dremel it down so that it would
fit iin there. and for the LCD part(temperature) the bulb hole is
so small and those bulbs don't come off, i just soldered the LED leds to
the contact points and let the led sit like that.

Good stuff!
