Hey guys, i'm new to the forum and i'm looking for an answer to a question on my 93' GS300. About 3 weeks ago I was driving to work when my dash lights and stereo started to fade and shut off, I got the car home before it stalled ( and would not restart) and immediately went and purchased a new battery and replaced. It hadn't shown any signs of power loss until this afternoon when the same power loss occured, again I got it home and tried a restart only to the car slowly attempt to turn over followed by the starter "clicking". I'm assuming my car is in need of a new alternator, i'm not really interested in buying a dealer replacement as a good friend of mine works at a local import auto wrecker, he was telling me tonight that they have a few Lexus ES300's, a couple Camry's and a 94' LS400 in the yard all with alternators. Now i'm assuming the Camry alternator will not work and the LS400 is 8cyl. so i'm also assuming that's a no go but with the ES300 having a 3.0L powerplant are the alternators interchangable? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Now that I think about it they can't be the same motor. Maybe I will have to get an alternator off of a N/A supra or something. ES300 are 3.0L motors but in V6 configuration not I6 (like GS300) because they are front wheel drive.
Do the GS300's come factory with 2Jz-Ge? I guess in that case i would be better off looking for an IS300, or SC300 alternator used or rebuilt???

Yes the gs300,IS300, Sc300 and the supra MK IV, come stock with the 2jz-GE, I would check a junkyard and pull an alternator of one of those, Maybe you"ll get lucky. Theres a gs300 in the pomona,CA junkyward (u-pick-u-save), or check this out http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/93-95...spagenameZWD1V

Ur better off just going 2 autozone and grab 1 for 200.00! I had the same prob and the alt. I have now works just as good! And its really like 150 wit the core value. I wouldn't waste my time and money trying something that might not work

All 2JZ alts will line up with the motor, but for whatever reason there are several different wiring clips and they are not compatable. For example the Supra auto alt is 100amp and the GS3 is 80amp but does not have the right clip. You could make it work if you were able to get a pig tail with the new/used alt and could get the wiring pin out. You are better getting a refurb or something with a warranty that plugs right in, or buy a HO alt like I did for $300. 165amps with one size smaller pulley.
