Default Transmission Filter and Oil Change

Hello,

I have a 1993 GS300, I am new to the forum and this is my first Lexus. I was wondering if someone can provide some insight on changing the Auto transmission fluid and filter. Is this a straight forward procedure? Also, what sort of fluid do you guys recommend? I'm in Ontario, canada so it gets pretty cold here during the winters. Should I buy the filter and gasket from Lexus? Or are their others that work just as well ? Any help on this matter is greatly appreciated. TIA!

Depends on you. I do mine every two or three oil changes.

Glad someone started this post, because I was just about to ask this very same question. I do my own oil changes, but was looking to do the tranny flush. Where is the plug/screw located to drain out the tranny fluid? Never really taken the time to look while I was underneath the vehicle doing the oil change, but need to do it immediately.

Hey, I ended up doing a drain and fill this past weekend. The plug is located in the middle of the pan towards the rear of the transmission. It is easy to get to, and I didn't even need to raise the car on a jack. The drain and fill capacity as stated by the Lexus dealership is around 2 Litres. I bought 3 Litres just to be safe (Toyota Type IV fluid).

Good Luck!
