ill take it. if your just gonna get rid of it that is

but it could be the pugs, wires, cap, rotor, you would have some look at it that is familiar with cars i guess if ya cant figure it out. g/l

well when you buy and older car like the 1gs, its ALWAYS a good idea to change the cap, rotor, spark plugs and plug wires...always. But I had a similar situation where my rpms would flux and eventually it would die...ended up being the Throttle Position Sensor. Recently my rpms would also go up and down when coming to a stop and it would die but that was just a bad terminal. Is the CEL coming on?

Why would you get rid of it anyway? ANY car is going to have problems and need attention...especially if its over 10 years old. Have you tried finding out whats going on or done anything to it?

do any lights come on? is it driveable? or every single time you start it up, it idles down then quits?

i was having a similar problem with my aristo. i would drive, the rpms would drop, some lights on the dash would come on, then i would have NO power, i could put my foot to the floor, and it wouldn't go above 2000 rpm.

turned out to be a loose injector pack connector, and the i changed the fuel filter at the same time. once changed, i turned the fuel filter on it's side, and a thick black, almost like coca-cola like liquid slowly drained out.

Rough start and you've changed all that stuff means the crank shaft pulley may be the real problem. If it's been run for a while with that bad, the serpentine belt might be junk too. You need to try to find a better mechanic, though. That guy is just going down a list to charge you money and has no idea about issues specific to these cars.

Check the spark plug wires are in the correct order, then check the plugs, it may also be the MAF.
