Default Have Jdm Aristo, what other parts Needed For Usdm Turbo Swap

Gday peoples,

From australia here, and in the process of buying some USDM turbos from a USDM supra(steel wheels). I did a quick search on the forums but couldnt find anything about parts needed to do the usdm turbo swap to a jdm aristo motor. Has anyone done it? i remember seeing a youtube video with a sc300 vs a aristo with usdm turbos on it, http://videos.streetfire.net/video/sc300-1...S300_174987.htm.

Heres a pic of both sets, i know i need some gaskets, what else would i need?

PS. Already have usdm intake cams, and in the process of getting 550cc(usdm) injectors with resistor pack( ive heard camry or another car resistor pack is suitable)

Cheers

Default usdm swap

Just got doing the same exact thing your doing. You need usdm turbos and turbo manifold, all the hard piping and actuators, usdm heat shield, not positive on the downpipe but i went ahead got a usdm one anyways. Basically try to find someone on the supra forums that removed all their usdm stuff and is selling all in one package thats the easiest way IMO.

PM me if you have any more questions.

Good luck!

Default supra forums is your best source

sgin up in supraforums.com tthis is the only way you can only see the sale stuff > when logged in.

MVP may be able to assist you. They sponsor CL forums.

As for turbos, you can get yours refreshed and reworked so they are bigger. I think MVP, Sound Performance and the other 2JZGTE specialists can help you achieve your pursuit of a USDM conversion.

280HP vs 320hp was the difference between JDM and USDM. is that extra 40hp worth the expense?

I suggest you do more research before you do your conversion. Considering there will be costs incurred for a few more dollars you can get more than 40 extra hp. that can get you in the 400hp range.

After you signup in SF search for BPU upgrades. You may even find something on the JDM spec 2jzgte BPU and reach your goal withou having to change out many components.

Good Luck with yoou project

well im already running 330rwhp @ 15 psi... probably 350 @ 18psi...

I've done all the research i have, and USDM turbos would cost me a bucket load less than highflowing and steel wheeling my jdm turbos(around 3k for turbos alone) i can get usdm turbos for under 1k, which should see me over the 400-450rwhp mark. Rather than going single with a gt3540 which nets similar power.

you need the USDM turbos, intake and exhaust manifolds, and exhaust bypass valve, then you just need to custom fab up an intake system if you want, if not the stock JDM box should work from what i'm told, and the downpipe can be custom made as well, then to the exhaust which i'm sure you already have.

to whoever said is the 40 hp worth the money, the limits of the JDM turbos can only take you to about 350whp depending on other mods, and that's running them at thier max of 17PSI, anything after that isn't effiecient and just creating hotter air to be cooled.

the USDMs can run upwards of 420+ whp if done up right and paired with the right mods, i know someone running 380whp just on intake, exhaust, fuel pump, injectors, fuel rail and a tune. and htat's at around 17 PSI, where they can go up to 20+ PSI and still be running better than the JDMS at 17PSI

so yes, it's worth it, specially if you find someone with a supra wanting to go to a single turbo, and they're selling the whole lot off at once
