Default aftermarket radio ?s

so i want to get a headunit that has a nice size screen to it so it will take up all that space that the stock one takes up. but i kinda dont wanna pay upwards of like 500-600 bucks for one lol. 350 would probly be the highest i go. i found some good deals on this website: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/

is Power Acoustik a good name brand? or Eclipse? TKO Audio?

this is the one i was looking at: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...se+AVN20D.html

now the real question: ok so im good with wiring. so how hard is it to install one of these in the GS? am i going to have to cut the OEM harness and hardwire it in or is there factory adapters? that make it plug and play? and can i still use my factory CD changer? (i know most of you hate them, but it never skips on me lol. and i live in an old town where all the paved roads of bumpy and stuff) Am i going to have to scrap the factory amp and get an aftermarket 5 channel amp? or can i splice the wires from the headunit into the factory wiring harness at the dash?
(im not into audio like alot of people are) i just want to run the door speaker and one sub. kinda like factory-ish. but with better sound.

i wanna do it right.

theres a few DIY on this subject. and yes you will need to run a few cables to the amp in the back if you wanna keep factory sub and everything but it wont sound as good with the factory amp just because its weak. i just bought the jensen uv8 and had car toys run the cables for my 2 front speakers and the head. it cost $70 and then i mad a custom box for my amp and sub. i like mine because its simple hits good but clean and was cheap. plus when i took out my old amp i just replaced it with the new one and it takes up less space now.
as for your cd changer i dont know but i believ you can plug and play with that, just dont quote me
i will show you pics of all the wires they ran and show you what they did if you need

ok i really like that head unit that i posted above. mainly cause the gps is exctaly what is in the new lexus cars as far as the picture is the same, all the buttons are the same...it still looks kinda factory-ish lol. but theres no RCA that come out of it.

so all i really wanna know is how i can make that headunit work while using either the factory or aftermarket amp. and factory speakers for now.

Cool

I did the opposite thing that u did i installed an amp on OEM stereo, its quite simple with the stereo wire diagram on the official DIY. Here is what i did. I converted the OEM harness cables to RCA using th diagram. "FRL+, FRL-, SE2 IS GROUND" "FRR+,FRR-, SE1 GROUND" "RRL+, RRL-, SE4 GROUND" RRR+, RRR-, SE3 GROUND. These are the codes that the diagram uses, i used RCA connectors that i got from work but im sure they have them at radio shack. that makes 4 RCA connector my problem is that i could not figure out with is + and - . but my stereo sound great and the cheap sub that i put hits dam hard for what it is. maybe this will help or confuse you more. but if i made a mistake please let me know maybe i can improve my set up

here is a pic of my set up

here is the wire diagram

well i work for Lexus so diagrams are no problem and im pretty good with wiring and stuff...im just not "knowing" on stereo stuff lol. weird, i know. but i think i have moved to getting a headunit with RCA as it would probly make it a ton easier on me lol.

but as far as what you did, i totaly understand.

I already got an aftermarket stereo installed and I had them bypass the OEM amp. Is it possible to just get an aftermarket amp and use the OEM sub with my aftermarket head unit?
