Crankshaft pulley warning
#16
Underdrive lightweight pulley is a big no-no. It does not lead to crankwalk like stated above, but it will damage the other bearings in the rotating assembly pretty much leading to a blown knocking bottom end. Crankwalk is normally the thrust washers failing.
We use/sell/swear by Fluidampr crank pulleys. Go with those, ATI, or OEM.

Boy I tell ya..when it rains, it pours with this car! Luckily I caught it b4 it shot off!
Ive had 2 buy a new:
Power Steering Pump,
Water Pump,
And now this thing!
But im just missing the rubber seal! So do I need buy a new pulley overall or is there an alternative solution?
I didn't know if I should post here or on the harmonic balancer post.......
Just when you've thought...... what else can go wrong! somethin random like this happens

STAY AWAY FROM UNDERDRIVE/LIGHTENED PULLEYS
if they car was made to come with a lightweight pulley and NOT a harmonic balancer pulley, it would have.
i personally know two guys in australia blow thier bottom ends and cause major damage to thier engines a couple months after putting on an underdrive crank pulley. and that was on the GTE. those handle stupid amounts of power without having trouble, but yet a lightened crank pulley and not a harmonic balancer can cause that much trouble? wierd? coincidence? no.
don't do it, you'll regret it later.
get a used one off a newer lexus IS300, GS300, supra NA or TT, or aristo for half the price of a new one

+1 I am telling you from FIRST HAND EXPERIENCE. My oem pulley broke then instead of coming here and doing a simple search I went to ebay and bought a cheap underdrive pulley and put it on. Two weeks later I heard a loud knocking then a loss of power and it ended up dying on the highway. Now I'm on the hunt for another engine, btw ANYONE know of ANY GOOD 2JZ ENGINES FOR SALE? :help:

stop making a fuss.. these things fail on Toyotas,Opels(GM),Hyundais, Mitsubishis etc..
its made of two parts to stop vibration, it has to fail at one time or another.

yep this same thing happened to me as well. i was doing a first gear WOT pull when i heard a loud bang. like i just ran over a pothole or something then seen this thing fly from under my car and land 20 meters away.. thank god there were no cars or anything infront of me cause that thing flew like it was a peice of rubber lol.. i was surprised at its weight when i picked it up!.. my belt was still turning on the rubber part of the crank pulley and it looked like everything was fine and drove on it for about 5k before i realized what it was. everything was fine thankfully
