yeah sure -hope this doesn't get deleted. head/tail light injection molds are a really high cost item ($$,$$$), that is why some very high-end low volume cars avoid it and use v/simple designs. So doing a one piece drop in replacement for an out-of-production GS1 is fantasy imo.

so thinkin' outside the box as always, came up with a working solution that is optically superior, uses higher quality plastic than an injected sol'n too. Like the desc says you 1. mark then cut out the old yellowed lense leaving 1/4" border on the frame (I used a jig saw or you can use a dremel with a saw wheel) 2. Sand the open frame flat and smooth out the roughness from the cutting process 3. Clean the dust and surface 4. Apply 3M tape to the frame, AND apply 3M tape to the lense 4. Join the two and fuse with a heat gun on warm setting. 5. Polish up and reassemble the headlight

The first one we did took a bit of time, but the second one i did in about an hour, using a jig saw. We have a couple of bench sanders and a drum sander, but a hand sander will do fine as well.

oh so pretty much it sticks "outside" the front lense..
so it'll be the thickness of the lense more out than before right?

I'll start my own as well. I'm actually modifying the entire headligt to make it look aftermarket; different projectors and inside shape althogether, pretty much look like a BMW 7 series lamp with black chrome housing. Let's see what happens!

I believe I was the first one to do it back in the day... Here is my original thread...
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/lig...ghts-pics.html

I did this back in 03, so about 6 years ago. From what I recall, it took about 2 days of sanding PER headlight. It was EXTREMELY time consuming......

Last year, my girlfriend had a minor fender bender which broke one of the headlights and I had to get it replaced. Let's put it this way, it was sooo time consuming that I'm still driving around with 1 stock headlight and 1 de-lined headlight. I'm thinking of ordering those clear lens and doing a retrofit....
