Shakes? Vibrating??
I got a problem that i cant seem to figure out, at freeway speeds, 65+MPH my car would vibrate in 1/2 second intervals. I've replaces my inner lower control arms, done alignment, wheels balance, lugnuts all tighted, anyone have a clue?
i've heard balljoints, but have no idea how they look. anyone care to chime in?

if it was ball joints you can check those by lifting the car up enough for the front wheels and see if you can shake them or if they will move. just grap the top and bottom of you tire and shake top forward then back while doin the opposite with the bottom then go side 2 side
does that make any sense?

I checked the ball joints by jacking it up, and shaking the wheel. top to bottom its solid, but left to right theres some give. is this a sign of a bad joint?

Guys, 95% of vibrations are related to bent rims. Chaning tires, balancing, ball joints, or anything else wont help. Speeds 60-65 are the most affected by wheel imbalance, and the GS has a flimzy collapsible steering rack joint which multiplies the vibration. I suggest going to a tire shop that has a Hunter 9700 balancing machine and having them check for bent rims.

A sticky caliper could also be to blame. (Sticky as in not releaseing presure and staying Compresed or close so it vibrates off the pads). This was happening to me after i blew a tire on the highway i didnt see that it had smashed my brake line close to the back by my muffler and that was causing my car to shack at just those speeds. This is not normal but sometimes the old fluidcan be so thick and gritty it cause's it to stick just the same as a smashed or blocked line.
