Default Speakers Work, Then Sound Blown, Then Work Again

Ive had a wierd problem with the stereo system in my '94. Ive had the car for almost a month and the stereo system sounded fine. The past few days, however, the speakers will suddenly sound blown (ie get very quiet, no bass) for no reason. Then a few minutes later (anywhere from 5-30 mins) the system will be fine again. I never turn the volume **** more than ~40%.

That happened to me too! it was playin and then it got really low and then when I turned the car off and back on it was perfect again but down the line it went out again and stayed that way and the electrical shop said it was a relay that went out! I would get it checked out b4 your power doors, windows, and seats go out too like mine did! The shop said they are all connected to the same relay!

or the amp is on it's way out.

that happened to me, except i had NO sound at all for a period of time, in fact, i let the car play through all the CD's and it played 11 full cd's, and 8 songs off the 12th CD before sound came back on once

I figured if the amp was going bad, it would blow and that would be it, no more audio. How long was it from the day it started until the episode of no music for almost 12 CDs straight?

i think i only drove a max of half hour per time, and took over 1.5 weeks, of going to work and back about 50 km's away each way.

so it took a while, that's for sure, haha

but that was at it's longest, some times it would play the CD and no soound would come out, for 10 minutes or so untill the car warmed up, then it would reset itself and turn it's self back on, and play music

I'll have to check on that then. Ive had the problem for a couple of weeks now and the legnth of time in which the sound goes out doesnt seem to be getting longer. If anything it's gotten shorter. I had a mechanic say something about the resistor in the head unit going bad so either way a used amp or head unit shouldnt cost much. Thanks for the insight.

do you have a 12 cd changer?i could pull my amp i guess, but it's the reason why i went with a a new stereo, so i don't know if you'd want it.

i'd gie you the headunit too, but it's shapped the wrong way so it won't fit.

either way, just buy a cheap sub, box, deck, and single chanel amp, run all 4 speakers off the deck, and run RCAA's and power for the sub to the trunk, and there ya go, sounds better than stock
