1st GEN GS300 Vs 1st GEN Acura RL
I know i should be even asking this in a lexus forum but before you guys start going crazy . In your honest opinion which car do you think is better overall. Reason y im asking is that im being offered a 1998 acura rl for my gs 300 with some extra cash. You guys think its worth it?

In my opinion the Gs Looks better than the RL. In terms of Gas mileage and HP they are roughly the same with the Gs having 10 more hp, however it is slightly heavier. Most likely the RL will have less mileage than the GS, but the GS's motor is known to last for a very very long time with proper care. So It comes down to looks and maintenance plans.

I see your from Ontario. Honestly I would say it depends on you. Your GS even though it's probably older has a better resale value. Plus like has been mentioned the motors go forever. I must say the honda motors in general are pretty damn solid though. My dad's 90 accord has 340k and still going strong. Than being said my cousin has a '93 Gs300 with over 400k and it still purrs. I myself recently bought a '92 aristo and hope to see that 400k mark easily. It's really upto you. I know I wouldn't swap mine.

Moejz beat me to it, but I'll say it anyway. First of all, Acura RL is front wheel drive vs Lexus GS is rear wheel drive ( please find one high end luxury vehicle out there that is front wheel drive, example Mercedes, BMW, Infiniti, ect. beside Acura? I know for a fact that Cadillac start with rear wheel drive in the early day then switch to front wheel drive during the 90s, but did you notice that all of their high end models are rear wheel drive now?) Wow, I wonder why? Secondly, the GS have inline six with iron block which is known for reliablitity. Eventhough there are more reason why the Lexus GS will be a better choice, but I'll stop after one last reason is that Acura and Honda which is the same known for their transmission problem where Toyota and Lexus transmissions are more durable and smoother.

Thanks for the advise guys really appreciate it. Turns out im just gonna keep it save some money and get a gs 400 or 430 . The only thing i hate about my gs is the acceleration really crappy. But high end speed is not too bad i guess. Yup i am from ontario i must say hardly see any 1st gen gs 300 around which is cool i feel so unique haha. R any of u guys planing on getting a 2nd gen anytime soon?

Oh shoot , forgot about it being rear wheel drive heh. In terms of getting a 2nd gen, I dont think its for me. A couple reasons IMHO why id keep it is people hardly ever see 1st gens around (Modified onces are rare, but really nice), everyone asks me about my car. Another reason is if your ever planning on making your car goes faster, a turbo setup works better on the 1st gen (In terms of durability). Dont get me wrong the 2nd gen is a nice car, but a nice 1st gen, is like seeing a unicorn, Its rare and wonderful.

My dad leased a 1st gen RL back in the day and neither of my parents cared for it. We ended up rockin my moms older LS400 most of the time. Id stick with the GS. As for my for my dad the former RL owner, he's been driving a 2nd gen GS for years now.
