i have a 93 gs300 with a 1jz vvti motor allready in but it has an automatic and i want to put a standard in it. first of all where do i get the parts and second of all is this a reasonable thing to do or is it out of the league of a normal mechanically inclined guy. i have done some motor swaps before i guess the real thing is i like this car alot and dont want to half *** anything

get your pedal setup, R154 transmission (88 up supra) and a bellhousing adapter. You could feasibly do this for 1k-ish range. I did mine for $600 but that cause I have some hookups in the junkyards.

R154 is a 5 speed.

R154 Tranny
7mgte clutch and pressure plate of your choice
pilot bearing
Throwout bearing

JZA70 - Flywheel
JZA70 - Bell Housing
2jzgte bell housing bolts ( these will run less than $10 for all )
3sgte - Flywheel bolts ( you need eith of them and this set has eight) Buy the ARP ones. Almost same price.

You can get the JZA70 for a good price from one of this site's vendor :
You can call parts department @ 713-943-7010 and ask for Viet. He will help you out.

Hope this helps,
Moe

Are you sure he would use 2jz bell housing bolts if he is using 1JZ motor and tranny? Because on second thought, he doesnt even need a bell housing adapter. I mean the R154 was made to come with his car in the first place.

2jzgte/1jzgte bolts are different than the ones that come one a R154/7mgte setup.
R154 was/is NOT made to come with the 1jzgte/VVTi engine. As far as i know, they all came with the Auto tranny.
