Default Inner Tie Rods Info

Found that the OEM units cost way too much so I decided to go aftermarket. Initially I thought the left and right inner tie rods could be interchanged, but I was wrong. The right side has a small boot on it and the side that attaches to the rack is slightly different than the left. Fortunately the left side rods can be found cheap since they are the same as the cars mentioned below. On the other hand, the right side still seemed pretty pricey for aftermarket.

EDIT: 11/04/2009
My part number source Alldata listed the wrong part number for the 93-97 GS. The correct part number is listed below. Unfortunately this new information means that the right (R) LS400 inner tie rod is not the same. Although, they are very similar. I'll try to verify fitment.

Left (Driver's) inner tie rod is the same for the following cars:

93-97 GS (L), 92-00 SC (L/R), 93-98 Supra (L/R)
OEM Part number: 4550339095

Right (Passenger) inner tie rod

OEM part numberfor 90-94 LS: 4550459015
Correct OEM part number for 93-97 GS: 4550439025

I just got some generic ones from seller worldsuspension on ebay. Don't really want to spend too much on replacement parts as I did on my SC knowing that it could be gone in a heartbeat.

Sorry no write up on this one.

I already did the outer tie rods and may post a DIY, but it is pretty straightforward.

Cool, thanks for the info. I'll be changing mine out really soon. I haven't gotten a quote from the dealer but I know it'll cost a pretty penny. I was at a local Autozone the other week and just out of curiosity I asked if they had tie rods for a 93 GS and to my surprise, they did. I forgot the exact price but I think they were around $50-60 bucks per side.

Wow that is pretty surprising. None of the auto parts stores around here have it in stock, but usually takes 1 or 2 days for it to come in. For some reason the aftermarket part number for the right (passenger) inner tie rod do not match up between the LS and GS. I'll have to find some way to confirm this.

Dumb question but how can you tell if you need a new tie rod and which side may need it?
