gated shifter?
#17
Ok just bought an LS gated shifter, I'd like to know what needs to be done w the wiring. I'm sure the actual shifter replacement is straightforward, only the four screws and one screw to the linkage. I also have an extra 1GS shifter trim so I will be fabbing up a trim from there.
Any help is DEFF appreciated!

Ok attempted to do the gated shifter mod and ran into a few problems:
1-Holes don't line up for the gated shifter out of the LS, at most 2/4 did.
2- do you, or do you not retain the rear a/c?
I couldnt get the shifter to fit in between the plastics of the a/c once the shifter was mocked into place

2) its really up to you. I dont have mine hooked up now, but with enough work you can make it work. Cut it up and fit it around and seal it off with some duct tape or something.
3) D is just drive. when you push it over to 3, there is a trigger button which i hooked up to be the Overdrive. So its usually in D then i just push it over to "3" and its in over drive. Then there is still 2nd and low gear.
I made a bracket to connect the shifter to the linkage. Then I believe i used most of the electronics and wires from the stock shifter and replaced it into the LS shifter. I made a wiring diagram but cant find it.
Really just play around with it. trial and error nobody is going to spoon feed you how to do mods.

Almost 1200 views and about 12 guys responding to this Mod. I have a feeling every 1st gen owner wants to know how to do this without hacking up there car for fear of an inoperable car. I shouldn't try this on a Daily driver but I'm anxious to see a future sticky on this. I lurk around CL alot but don't post, I'm a much better observer and this is something I want to see the most. To the guys that have done this mod, you guys keep us all checking back every other day to find something new. Thank you guys. I just may take the plunge and try this and get a ride to work.
