Default I don't know what's happening

I have 2 12's in my car hooked up to a 1000 watt amp. I noticed at night, or even whenever it's cooler outside if I play my radio it will shut off my whole radio. And turn back on again. No matter how quiet I'm playing them. But today it was about 75 degrees outside and I wasn't listening to my music at all, and when I would press on my brake pedal the lights on my odometer would dim a lot, and when I came to a red light I pressed on the brakes and my car shut off. Completely.

I have no idea what's going on? Do I need a new alternator?

happened to me before, same exact thing.

thought it was a short in my wiring (previous owner cut up ALL the wires behind the stereo) so i pulled everything out and rewired the deck. it stopped the prob for a few months

then started happening again, alt died, batterie died, replaced those, stopped happening.
