I have a problem with my key not turning in the ignition
it will not turn the ignition unless i jiggle it around to find the "sweet spot"
has anyone experienced this problem and is there an easy fix?
my brother said it might be my key because its a little worn down.

im guessing its just wear and tear too, but it just happened all of a sudden, so signs of it before, turned perfectly fine.
i thought it could be the steering wheel locking, but the wheel moves freely. i had to get a sharpy and mark the sweet spot on my key...so ghetto haha

Man!!! My car just did the same thing yesterday after work. it sucks because i never found that sweet spot your talking about. I took apart the dash trying to get to the ignition and boy was that a pain in the a**..... Im hoping that its nothing to hard to fix. But the ignition looks to be expensive.

you gotta jimmy it around, pull it in and out my a few millimeters. dont push it in all way.
what i did was to find the sweet spot, push it in the whole way, then back it out little by little, everytime i would back out i'd try to turn it slowly, if it didnt work i'd back it out a lil more and did the same over and over, sat in the car and did this for a good 15 minutes before finding the spot...
goodluck.

If you park with the steering straight ahead you most likely will not have this problem. Parking with the steering wheel turned may make it hard or difficult to turn the key when starting. I have done this a few times and my mother just did also.

on the other hand, sometimes its easier for me just to turn the wheel to full lock and turn the ignition that way.
anyways im tired of this damn car. 265K miles with a slipping trans. theres this rattling comming from my trunk which is impossible to find. currently in the market for a UCF20/21
