Custom GTE spark cover - just need an emblem
The cops are pretty crazy here in L.A., so I decided to try and make my spark cover seem as "stock" as possible. I am not the best painter or fabricator around, so please excuse my sloppy job. I am pretty happy with the way it turned out.. all that it is missing is the "L" emblem that I am trying to get from a friend's NA 2jz valve cover..
I forgot to take pics as I sanded everything down but this is the stock valve cover:
I sanded the "Two Way Twin Turbo" or whatever it was off of the valve cover, and then lightly scuffed the rest of the paint after a deep clean.
Then it was time for primer..
After the first coat, I found some imperfections so I sanded it again and threw another coat of primer on it.
Then, I sprayed it with some Pep Boys Import Paint that was supposed to be a factory match for certain vehicles. I just picked one out that looked something like the factory metallic beige that Lexus uses to plaint their valve covers, and it just so happened that it kinda matches the color of my GS3..
After that was done, I threw on a couple coats of clear and this is how it turned out:
All it needs is the little badge, but I think it looks pretty nice! What do you guys think?

LOL.. Thanks for the compliment. More "stock" pieces are in the works... baby steps..
I am having some plugs ordered for the old coolant feed lines, so I can have them pressed in. Then I am going to make some sort of intake pipe, and try to hide the hot side of the intercooler piping underneath it.
I am also making a heat shield to cover the turbo out of the stock gte unit. We shall see how good that looks when the time comes.. For now, I would rather claim to have a street-legal turbo kit on the stock motor, rather than a modified jdm motor swap..
edit: ..also wanted to add that boredom was a factor. Haha.

Thanks, I was totally going for that look. Still trying to source a lexus emblem from a n/a 2j to complete it.
Thanks man! Appreciate the kind words!!
LOL.. yeah, I am almost done with modding the factory heat shield to cover the new turbo. It looks pretty sleeper so far when test-fitting..
