Picked up another 1GS! (long story)
So I have been enjoying my 93 GS300, but I have been lending it out lately to friends and family. First my mom, then my aunt, both expressed interest in having the same car. My GF has been driving it as of late and she expressed interest as well.
She has been searching for a car in the sub 2000 range so I told her to look for an early lexus.
She pointed out an SC400 for $1400 on craigs. It looked good on paper, but as you know with an SC400 it could be really good or really bad.
She then pointed out a 93 GS300 that was $1500 but had just dropped to $1000. This seemed too good to be true so I tried to jump on it at 1AM. The seller offered no phone details. He explained that the reg had recently expired and the pulley had fallen off and he didn't know what to do at that point. I said I would take the car if it runs and sent the email, knowing exactly what the problem was.
Early Sunday morning the seller calls back but says he has several calls and invited EVERYONE to show up at his house at the same time. This was awkward. Are we all going to bid on the car? What is the deal with that?
He gave me an address and refused to give out his number. Fine, so we headed over, got lost and showed up at 3:10pm. I figure the car is gone by this point. To my surprise, nobody was there AND nobody had even showed up as expected. Someone had looked at the car the day before but was not interested due to the fact that the battery was dead and was scared away by the pulley issue.
So, we arrive and see a nice clean GS300 (compared to mine). It had been sitting a long time as you could tell, but someone tried to clean it up with a nice wash. A lady comes out and shows us the car. I already want it regardless but she goes on and on. She put in a new battery, warranty on the tires, etc etc. She starts lowering the price because the registration was expired. The final cost was $920.
Anyway, the smaller part the pulley had fallen off. Other than that everything looked REALLY nice. The lady even threw in AAA towing to my house! So we get it there and change out the pulley, which I just happened to have handy (I save them!). It runs great! Zero oil leaks.
The issues the car has are typical. The driver window won't open. Some of the gauge lights are out or flickering. The driver side headlight lets water in.
The car is GREEN, which I did not even know existed. In my opinion it is a really nice color on the car. The only plans for the car (since it's her car), is to make everything 100% functional. There will be no mods.

why are you guys telling him to mod the car when he states it's for his girl. Girlfriend can ride stock because when she no longer your girlfriend you want your mods back (court t.v. drama).

I'll probably look for some 17" OEM lexus rims or something to help fill the wheel gap.
I'm really loving the color. I will probably eventually want to get this one from her in the future and get rid of mine.
