No It can be done on GS300's. your back wil sit lower because the sc300/MkIV supra struts bodies are shorter.
2nd Gen struts can also be put on but the rears will have to be cut and have the factory strut bracket(On the botom) welded on. check out google.com's images and see what the 1st gen gs300(JZS147) struts front and rear look like vs the sc300's(JZZ30), 2nd gen GS300(JZS161) and the 4th gen supra's(JZA80)
I guess this guy put 2nd gen gs300 strut/shocks on his 1st gen gs300.
