Default 96's 2 piece tail light swap to 93-95's one piece?

Does anyone know exactly how to swap my 96 2 piece tail lights out for the 93-95 one piece tail lights? Any help would be appreciated.

I think this one is for a 93 gs300 tail lights conversion to 96-97 jdm tail lights

What this mean is that your taillights lamp failure will turn on because of differences in the resistors for the two models. You can search on this forum since some member has done it before.

Oh yeah will these ones be a direct fit then?

The JDM 96-97 taillights, which is the one in the picture require no modification to the key location for the 93-95 USDM model, except for the difference in 1 harness vs 2 harness. Since yours is a 96-97 USDM model, you will need to modify the key hole location, unless you want to use the trunk realease from the inside. As for me, I always like the JDM 96-97 taillights because of the brights red brake lights and white turn lights, but dislike the fact that it have only 1 harness for the brake lights and the "Aristo" in the center is exposed on the outside which tend to oxidize and the chroming tend to peel off also. This is one of the reason why I end up with the 93-95 JDM taillights because the "Aristo" is in the inside so no worries about oxidation. Oh well, nothing is perfect

Correct, since yours is 96-97 USDM model, your harness is the same with 96-97 JDM model with only one harness for the brake lights. As for the key hole, I remembered reading somewhere on this forum with one member doing the swap with pictures actually. Here is the thread by lexus4jess:
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...il-lights.html
This is what he have to say about what he need to do with the key hole.
"The OEM 96,97 tail lights will not fit 93-95 cars,as the key hole is in a different location.
I had to relocate the key hole on my car to be able to put on the aristo 93-95 tail lights.moved it about 2" to the right.the black plug is where my key hole went.
so now you know something new about the car."
I recomemmend contacting him since he done it before. All the pictures he posted are no longer available since it was in 2005. Good luck with your mods.

I wanted to do the same thing with mine since it's a 1995 with the 2-piece look.
