Default Dizzy timing off!!!!

I replaced my distributor shaft o-ring. When doin so I didnt mark anything and moved everything when i took it apart! Dummy i know. I didnt read anything before hand. And I wiped down all the carbon build up so of course my timing is now off.

So 1st I set my timing on crank to 0* tdc and my cam shaft marks are also lined upo properly at the notches.

next i remove the dizzy and wires and line up the "gear with the notch" to the "nptch on the dizzy itself". Then i insert as careful as possible into the head. Tighten the bolt a lil and connect everything. I also Jump the terminals at the obd port to check my timing with my timing light. I adjust and try to get to get to 10* btdc. Everytime I do this i cant get close enough to my goal of 10*. Sometimes i get close sometimes Im wayy out. its crazy...ive been going at it for 7 days now. One time i got it advanced so far it was running more powerful but the top end started knocking ( imagine if i had thicker oil?? lol ) But i cant get it to the proer setting at all. What am I doin wrong?!?? Help plz
