Hi everyone,

I registered here, because I'm trying to help a friend with her 94 GS300. And I'm lost as to what could be causing the problem.

Basically, it won't start.

It cranks fine, has spark, is in time, and has fuel. It'll turn over, but won't fire.

History:

She took it to a "mechanic" for some work (new injectors, tune up, oil change, ECU). That "mechanic" had it for 45 days, took her money up front, and then stopped all contact with her. On the 45th day, her brother went over there to physically get the keys back, and drove the car home. So basically, we have no idea what he did, how he did it, and with what parts.

THAT'S when it started having issues... before the "mechanic" it ran smooth, and started good... BUT, on the way home it ran WAY rich (blows black smoke like a diesel), wouldn't idle good (no wonder), and had no power.

A week of driving it like that (her only car, no choice)... she parks it on Friday night, come Saturday... it won't start.

So I go to help her (I'm a mechanic by hobby, mostly racing. and hold some ASE certs). I look at it, and find one of the MAF wires are broke, bare injector wire on #4, and #3 injector wire had a new wire spliced in (crimp connections). Plugs looked new (black from rich tho), and it wouldn't start.

SO.. I fix the bare injector wire, and remove the crimped #3 fix for solder and heat shrink. Solder and heat shrink the MAF wire, and button it up.

Still no fire.

She said the CE light was on, so I look up how to jump the OBD1 computer to read codes... but when I did that, the CE light just flashed every .5 seconds for eternity.

SO, at this point I'm lost. And could use help.

I'm thinking that "maybe" the bare injector wire could've grounded and fried the injector drivers in the ECU?? but that's an expensive "attempt"... so maybe somebody here will know if that's possible or not.

Any other areas I should look at to see why it's not running??

Thanks for reading.
