Unhappy Bye Bye First Gen!

I am finally saying sayonara to my very first ride after proudly serving the family for 16 years! My 94 GS aka Annie Mae made it to 197K, she's still running, but needs so much work and I was throwing money away with one small issue after another. I'm ready to move on as much as I love her.

I would like to part her out, but don't have the time, means or know how, to do it.

I'm moving into a 2003 ES 300, more of a feminine style for us ladies. The new kid has less mileage, so we are hoping to be friends for a few years too. I'm officially shedding my tough chick exterior. (at least as far as the car is concerned)

I'm pushing 230K, only difference between the 1st and 2nd gen is a car note. I'll graduate to an LS430 when its my turn.

NNNNNNOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is why you gotta be antsy when you're maintaining the GS! Too many people are idiots when it comes to basic maintenance and routine. One thing a lot of people will over look is the transmission and radiator service. Can't say enough...but...NNNNOOOO!!!

I am at 186K miles. The head gasket quit in 2009, but due to the pain in the *** which accompanies forced induction in CA, I opted to put everything back together stock. I had the head hot tanked and new valve guide seals installed. After that came the head gasket, timing belt H2O pump, cap, rotor, plugs, and wires. The car now gets 50-60 more miles out of a tank of gas, which is nice. I thought last night that I may not have the 1GS forever, but heck, why not? It should be good for another 100K miles anyway.

To the OP, I hope the ES is as good to you as the old 1GS was.

Just make sure you get a 1UZ-FE with VVTi out of a 98-05 GS400 and it should be worth doing. Exhaust and intake can get you to 330 crank hp. The "why" will always come from 2JZ-GTE guys who want to put loads of hp to the wheels. There was a guy here a while ago considering an LS1 V8 swap, which would be pretty cool too.

@JDMMK...no I haven't sold her yet. It's hard for me to part with her to be honest. I took her for a spin a few days ago, but she will be on the market as soon as I get a camera to take some pix. (camera phone isn't worth a hoot sometimes)

@Jadu, yes my BIL gave it to me, he had too many modes of transport at one point and needed to give it up. She served us all very well!

So I love my new ES, but to be honest, I love everything about the 1st gen 20x better! They really knew what they were doing in 1994!
