jdmmk3: I decided not to do the turn signal, cause that would be WAY to much work, and i don't like how it looks and how you can see the bulb completely when it's all sanded

rapollon: you nailed it right on the head! bingo

pingpong89: i'd rather not say cause it's kind of embarrassing lol. they are from a 08 mitsubishi eclipse, but they're not OEM, no idea as i didnt' buy them, kinda just snagged them from work. I will be covering up those black parts around the bezel of hte projector, but i don't think i'll be able to cover the screws, but i'm not to sure yet, we'll see how it goes once i get the lenses sanded down.

My main goal is to get the best light output as possible without blinding oncoming drivers. so if it's not cosmetically perfect, no biggie, haha

to the rest: thanks guys, i'm going to be updating this as the time goes on, as i'm almost finished sanding down the other lense, so the rest should come together somewhat quickly

This is what I am working on with my lamps but I will not polish, but clear the inside (paint clear) once I go down to 1000 grit. Also, I intend to keep the ridges on the quarter area since (call me crazy) I like them.

Nice work and results Dek's!!

Thanks Nick for taking the time and share the write-ups on your latest project.......GREAT job !!!

Any plans on adding some LED lights to this set like you did on your previous project, perhaps using it as your DRL ? Can't wait to see the finished result !

if he intends on painting them clear, it's not going to work. the only way is to polish them, and it's A LOT of polishing.

danny, I'll be adding something along hte lines of what i did, but hopefully a little different so they're bright enough to use as DRL's.

right now i'm using my light up JDM license plate as my DRL's. hahaha

whut he said ^, painting clear will not work. you HAVE to sand/polish for this to work.

nice job poster!

Why would it not work?

I know it does, just curious about your guy's opinions. If you say 'because it fades or peels' then you either aren't doing it right or using really cheap rattlecan clear.
I have done it on other cars with hids and here in AZ the sun is a biotch. After 2 years, no fade or peel, look like new when waxed. My gs lamps have over a year clear coat on the outside, no fade yellow or peel. It is all about the process you follow and the materials you use.

cause if you scratch something with sand paper, and spray paint something over it, how are you going to get the scratches out? the clear coat that you rattle can over it would just acent the scratches. that makes no physical sense.

i don't think you understand how deep these scratches are. i don't know why you would put spray paint ontop of a scratched up lense

so instead of polishing, you spray painted them with a clear coat?

If you sand it evenly with 1000 grit, clear will cover the scratches. Also, dont use rattle can, use real urethane clear. I show how to do this in my build thread in VSC located in the toyota section. Im Jmax in vsc btw. See how much I scratched the plastic before I cleared over it.
Prestige Japan also uses this method btw.
