Default Are lexus oil pumps self priming??If not How is it done??

I changed my rod bearings today, on my 1995 GS300. I turned it over a couple on seconds w/ the coil wire discounted to prime oil pump, just in case. It starts fine but oil now flickers at idle. I`m a heavy user of Lucas Oil could the oil be heavy to now clear the pick-up screen in the oil pan. Thanks in advance for the help.
