Rattle-Can vs Maaco

So, after doing a lot of reading on spray-painting your car, I am... still on the fence :/
I know the quick answer for a lot of paint and body questions is Maaco if you aren't going for showy, or painting a brand new car.
I am b=planning on going satin black on my JZS147 and I was considering the rattle-can option. But since I am going with a relatively cheap paint (or at least I think) would it be probably cheaper to just head to Maaco and have them shoot it? It's dark green now, if that helps. I'm not looking for show-quality, just as long as its in the door jambs, under the hood I don't care about. Any thought/input/flamage would be appreciated!

Its all up to how good you prep the car. The down side of spray painting is that it will fade. I did my MR2 satin black and it lasted about 1 year. Now if I would have kept it under a car cover I'm sure the spray paint would have lasted longer.

See if you can't befriend one of the Maaco guys so they take a sort of personal interest in your car because they know you, and do it right. Also, if YOU do the prep work it'll come out better. Find a local guy that does paint himself or whatever and see if he can help you with prepping it, then towe it up to Maaco with everything taped off, newspaper, etc and have them spray it. For a basic paint job, anyone that's been doing it for a while can spray just as well as anyone else, where Maaco's problems come from are horrible prep work but if you painstakingly knock that out yourself, all they're doing is spraying it. Also when you get it home, cut and buff it yourself to get orange peel and small drips out of the paint and voila...nice paint.
