GS 300 with 177k miles NEED ADVICE!
I'm thinking of buying a 95 fully loaded GS 300 with everysingle option. It has 177k miles and has been well cared for. I had a mechanic check it out and passed with flying colors.
I've negotiated about 8800 dollars for the car. Should I be concerned with these miles?
Is it a good price?
Help

welcome gerb,
if the history is ok, your mechanic has checked the car, and you've testdrived the GS.... why hesitate.....
just try to get the $ down.

Welcome to CL!
Good find. I'm sure if you get that GS you'll be happy with it. As far as negotiating those prices, try to find stuff that needs repaired and knock off part of the price from that.
Also if you have all the repair history and maintenance records you'll be even better off. You'll know what needs fixed when scheduled maintenance time comes. Also, you may want to get the VIN checked and have it taken to your local Lexus dealer for a repair history check.
A couple more things- as they say, patience is a virtue when it comes to buying a car. Don't jump right into the first thing you see, unless you KNOW it's a perfect gem. Also, if you go with that first generation GS, you've got a very modable car!

Gerb,
My GS has 145K miles on it, and I still race it.
This should tell you something.
Just like others said, if the car has good history
and the mechanic checked it. You are all set.
$8,800 does not sound bad, but if you can get
it for $8,000 that would be excellent.
It's a wonderful car. I've had it for 7 years and
never even once have I regret it. My advise is
go for it, you will love the car.
Regards.

i'm loving this new board.
sounds like you got yourself a good deal. don't worry about the miles too much. i'm sure it will go past 200,000 miles easily. just change the oil every 3000-4000miles and you should be ok. does the engine look clean???
about the price. the price is a little much. try to bring that person down maybe 1,000 so you have some room to work with. and if not try 500. if not just walk away and i'm sure he will come back to you. or just give him a couple days and give him a call good luck
