Talking Just picked up a 96GS300 (Mod Suggestions?)

Hi everyone. Just picked up a 96GS300. Man I love this car. Got some questions though. I'm sure this topic has been tossed around many times, but could you guy's give me some suggestions for some basic performance mods? I.E. What intake and exhaust work best? How bought an ECU upgrade. Lastly, Anyone know of a good source for used parts? I really appreciate the help. Thanks.

first off welcome.

The first gen is a great car. drive it around stock for a while and get to know the car. its a great car. no need to jump in and mod it right away. it will happen soon enough. as for mods. first i would definetly clear the front lens. takes about 1 hour to do both if you never done anything with your hands before.

as for exhaust. i'm planning to put a magnaflow exhaust on my car. lots of the SC guys with the same engine do it. and i have heard it sounds GOOD.

intake. the only one that i can think of is a drop in one from K&N thats affordable. unless you wanna pay 300 bucks for one. or you can do it the cheap way which i will do it is buy a early 90 honda civic intake it has the same bend as our cars and use that.

Here's the exhaust to get if you want to go with a universal...

(I apologize for the extensive watermarking but there are a few cheezeball ex-members that like to use other people's work for their own profit)

here's the tip...

These cans weigh close to nothing...lightest exhaust can I've ever run into...pickup a set from Steve Ganz (SupraTRD or 800-90-TOYOTA)

I'm going to be installing these on my SC400 next week and I'll be posting a review...so far, as expected from Veilside, top notch build quality. The welding is very impressive. Even my buddy who is a professional welder for an aerospace firm commented on the nice welding...

They're not expensive IMO...they're $600/pair.

As for the dimension, I'm not sure...I'll try to measure it tommorow....

600/pair is not expensive for universal TITANIUM mufflers. I paid 400 something for just stainless steel APEXi universal N1s.

Default Mods.

GSX-R1000, welcome to the club, baby.
We just got our subforum going, got another
first generation Lexus fanatic; what can I say,
life is great.
Jmai22 had a good point: drive your car stock
for a couple of weeks, get a feeling for it. This
way you will know what you like stock in the
car and what you would like to change to your
own personal preference.
And as far as exhausts go, I love L-Tuned and Borla.
Borla looks really nice with the oval shaped tip, but man,
I love the L-Tuned's sound.
Welcome to the family, bro, and enjoy the ride.

mananray, it's nice to see you're back. I was starting
to wonder where you have disappeared.
