Default Changin Wood trim to something else

I was thinking of Color sanding all the woodtrim inside my car and painting it like gunmetal or dark silver or something different. does anyone know what the procedures are and what color would look best with a dark grey interior

Default Interior.

Jmai, I've got dark grey interior just like you do.
I got a wood steering wheel instead of changing
all the wood to something else. Now that there is
more wood, it looks much nicer inside, and the wood
actually brings out the leather much more now. The
only other thing that I need now is the wood and
leather shift ****, and my baby will look off the
hook.
Just sharing with you what I did with mine.
But I think the guy, who would know a lot
on interiors would be Todd, since he completely
changed his.

when i first bought the car, the wood in the center shift console was cracked off. i was originally just going to change that piece, but ended up buying a whole new kit because i liked this color.

John...

My personal feeling would be to change all of the wood trim to Carbon-Fiber. I think that would look amazing with your Dk. Grey interior.

There are a couple of companies out there that can help you on that one...sorry, I can't think of the names right now. I'll get it tomorrow afternoon and post it for you.

Default Where'd you get the gray wood?

Mischief, where did you find that gray wood kit? It looks very nice. I've never seen gray wood outside of the LS430.

Yeah, the black burl is really cool- lots of the new Mercedes Sport models come from the factory with it now. Where did you get it?

On my bro's car, we have considered color-matching all of the wood to the Royal Sapphire blue exterior, or painting it an 'aluminumish' silver (the car is grey inside).

Personally, on my Bro's car, I'd strip the clearcoat, stain the wood a dark translucent blue, and re-clearcoat it to a high OE-like gloss. This would still let you see the woodgrain texture, and (I think) be very classy, yet unique.

i bought the dash kit from autodash emporium.

AutoDash Emporium

i do have a word of caution though...i bought the dash kit because they are one of the VERY few companies that make a kit for the 1st gen. gs. also, they have quite a few pieces unlike some others out there which have like 8 pieces. another reason is that they have a pretty good variety of colors and styles. i was torn between the black marble and the brushed aluminum style they had . they ship out pretty quick, BUT, when i looked at the diagram, i didnt realize that the kit did not include the wood grain pieces where the door lock/window switches are. so AFTER i put the whole kit on, & realize that they dont have the door pieces, I contact them via email, and told them my situation. they told me that they make their kits to compliment the OEM woodgrain. WTF...i don't remember lexus offering a wide variety of woodgrain choices. they basically told me theres nothing i can do, and i cant take off the kit, because the 3m adhesive they use is DAMN strong . as of right now, my switches are still oem woodgrain with a black marble dash kit. i still dont know what to do with the color.

someone said something about stripping the clear coat and staining the wood grain underneath. anyone ever done something similar to that, and how did it come out?
