Exclamation should i buy 93 gs300???

I'm looking at a black 93 gs300 in good condition with 82,000 miles on it. All that car needs is new tires and lower ball joints. Price is $7000. Could you guys tell me anything about the car before i buy it that i wouldn't get from reading reviews. Thanks Dave.

I would get a vehicle history report on the VIN from the lexus dealer or vehicle registry. i.e. what service have been done on the car and if the car have been in an accident or re-incarnated. I realize the car is almost ten years old but I would prefer the factory exterior finish as one of my deciding factors...juts my thoughts. Good luck!

Default GS3 Purchase.

The price is pretty good, see if you can get it down to $6,500; given that you would have to fix the ball joints and get tires.
That would be an excellent deal.
As far as what to look for, use this link to the thread where
all of this has been discussed before:

and another

and another

Good luck, and let us know what happens.
Regards.

Thanx for the info guys. The car got inspected by the lexus dealer and here is what they found. I need lower ball joints, I need the cables for the moonroof and the molding is messed up on the driver door, needs new tires too. Everything else is all good. The guy said that the dealer quoted him $6500.

Default Slow Down.

So now it also needs molding on the door and the cables for the
moonroof. I'm not sure but I believe the molding is sort of expensive, check with a good body shop first. See if the price they quote for you on the molding is not over the top. I think you should deduct whatever the quote is from $6,500.00. Or maybe you want to wait for a car with less problems. I mean there are too many problems for a car with 82K in my opinion. It does not sound to me like this guy took good care of the car. Did he do a 60K tune up or was that skipped? That's another $1,200 at least.
Good luck, man. Keep us posted.
Regards.

yeah the guy didn't care a whole lot for the car, but he is one of those stuck up rich guys so he had all the scheduled tune-ups, oil changes etc done by the dealership. Its pretty dirty inside but nothing that can't be cleaned. I don't care about the moonroof and I can do the ball joints by myself. Question is how much should i drop the price of $7000?

Thumbs up

If I was you, I'd get it for $6,500 or $6,000 whichever one you can pull off. The car is worth around $12,000 the way it is. That's the official blue book value. So either way you are buying it for half the price. Especially if all the necessary stuff was done to it. Good luck, bro.

Default Good luck.

You are welcome, bro.
It's a beautiful car, make sure you don't treat it
the same way that rich guy did.
And best of luck with your purchase.
Regards.

Rover, Rover, Rover......gompka is in IL so he won't be paying your price for 60k tune up. don't go scaring him away like that I paid around $700 for my 60k at McGrath Lexus in Chicago. and as far as any parts for your car don't bother going to Lexus direct....get them from Steve at Carson toyota(CL discount).

You will have to remove the ceiling panel to get to the cable, other than that it should be straight forward. If you can, ask the dealer if you can have a quick look @ their manual to get an idea of what is involved or if you require special tools.

good luck!

Thanks 2lexos.
The reason i wantto do the moonroof bymyself is because when the guy i bought it from took it to the dealer they told him that the only problem was that the cable snapped, but they wanted $900 for repair.
