Just wondering if the 93 lexus has OBD1, On board diagnostics generation 1. I have a nifty program on my laptop I could use to mess with the computer if it has obd1.

Yes it does, that's how the dealer takes care of it. The port is underneath the steering column.

 

hey gompka, nice to have you on the forum. Hey, I also have a '93 Gs. So what is this program and what can you do? I've kinda heard about people doing this kinda stuff w/ laptops but I don't know anyone who's done it on any car.

well you need a special cable to go between your pcm and the laptop. Then you can use a program to monitor all the functions of the engine. My father has this program for his 96 impala ss and it works well. I'm not sure if the program I have will work on lexus, but i'll let you guys know as soon as i try it out. Its hard to find free programs, a company that makes one is Autotap, www.autotap.com. The program and cable run around $220, the program only allows you to do diagnostics and reset pcm trouble codes. I think it is $1000 for editing programs that allow you to edit your pcm.
