Default Steering Problem

Ok so something is wrong with my steering. When i drive its perfectly fine. When i stop at a red light or something i cant turn my wheel. Its super difficult like i have to use all of my power to turn it. When i let go of the brake and start hitting the gas its still difficult to turn till about 15-25 mph and when im slowing down it gets difficult to turn. Anybody know what this may be?

check your power steering pump.
are there any gauge lights that come on when this happens?
Alternator, TRAC, ABS?

either going out or there is a leak that you need to have checked. It more than likely is low on ATF fluid(NOT power steering fluid, on our cars).

hmm... then might be your steering pump on its way out.

When you are driving +20mph it is far easier to steer your vehicle, because as the wheels turn, the momentum of a 3600lb vehicle is an acting force on "forcing" your wheels to turn or aka "corner/edge" on the angled tire once you initiate a turn at the steering wheel.

But from a dead stop, that assistance in momentum is not there. So now it is you who must use all of your muscles to turn the steering wheel.

Mind you this is if you are not recieving any assistance from the power steering system.
