first of all you don't remove it from the trunk. you remove it from inside the car. just pry up the net covering lightly so you don't break off any clips. then there is 4 phillip head holding the sub in place. just remove screw lift sub out and cut wire. If the clips break in the net covering its ok. you can just put it on there. it won't go anywhere. all my clips are broken. LOL

Jmai,
I got the rear deck speaker cover off (broke the old clips of course)...and got the 4 philips screws off (helps if you use some wd-40)...but the factory sub still ain't budging...
is there a step i'm missing?

It's stuck on there pretty good...wouldn't budge even with the screwdriver...so I just busted the paper baffle and now have a line of sight into the trunk. The sound is definitely different.
Been contemplating doing this...but didn't know how to get the rear cover off.
Job done. Thanks Jmai.

dude.....you're doing it all wrong:eek: you have to take the back seat out first....then take three clips out that hold the rear deck. slide the entire rear deck cover off(and if you have a third brake light make sure you disconnect that too....the wire for that goes into the trunk on the passenger side, so you have to disconnect it in the trunk and feed the wires up through the rear deck). you have to remove four bolts that are holding the sub mounting bracket. disconnect sub and remove....sorry i didn't catch ya earlier....you wouldn't have broken those speaker grill clips.

don't worry about it 2Lexos. the "alternate" method works fine for me. i figured it couldn't be as easy as it sounded.
gompka, even with broken clips the cover stays on tight...there are two "plug" things at the front corners of the cover. Those plugs don't break and fit very snug. but if broken clips bother you...just take your time.
