Transmission and Radiator Flush *help*
hey guys. i'm a type of person that likes to do there own work. Can someone give me a brief datailed on how to flush my radiator and my transimission.
like where the release screws under the radiator are. and i heard i am suppose to use distilled water to flush it out. then fill up 50/50 distilled water and coolant.
my radiator has never been flushed. still using the brown original factory coolant. car is now almost 10 years old.

Radiator flush- there are kits around $10 for doing this, wherein you hook up a garden-hose to the radiator and run the car so it gets cleaned out. I think this is supposed to be done every two years or so.
Transmission flush- this is a job for a mechanic because it requires special equipment and tools. I get may transmission flushed every 30k to maintain its longevity.

dam, isn't flushing the transmission fluid like changing the car oil???
as for the radiator, the way you mention is WRONG. i read some where that you are not suppose to use garden hose water because it causes rust and all this other stuff to build up inside.. Thanks for your reply though.
someone tell me where the flush release nut is??

nah, use the garden hose.....all you are doing is flushing out any crap that could be in your engine. done this lots of times, never had a problem. also there is a radiator fluid that is pre-mixed already so you don't have to worry about getting the mixture right. oh an make sure when you first drain the anti-freeze from your car that you put an oil pan or something down there so you want get it all over your drive way...slippery stuff.
